Skyrocket your Productivity with these 3 tips![]()
I just got done reading Instant Focus: How to Beat Procrastination and Skyrocket Productivity by Patrick King.
Most people after reading a book pat themselves on the back and do little to nothing with that information. On the other hand I always implement what I read, but first I outline it in a book summary on one of my personal blogs. For me writing things out really helps me remember things. I keep an anonymous personal blog which will be released to the public once I'm famous. Today I decided that this information would be great for business owners to have as well! There are many AWESOME tips for enhancing your productivity hidden between the pages of this book. Here are 3 tips that I'm personally implementing. 1) Screw the To Do List!
To Do List not, as Yoda would say (I think!). I'm a serious to do list freak so when Patrick King said to throw away that magic list I was shocked. Throughout the book he gave different strategies for productivity so you could see what works for you.
One of the options he gave was to put everything into your calendar... EVERYTHING. Change the default timing setting on your calendar to 15 minute increments because it has been proven by the richest men to be most effective. How to implement:
2) "ABCDE" Your To Do List
I thought you said to screw the to do list...
True, but at the same time we need a place to organize our thoughts in order to grow. The ABCDE List is just that. Patrick says that you should take your tasks and order them into categories of importance. Category A: Immediate Attention To Dos such as deadlines. Category B: Important things such as follow ups, pre-meeting research etc. Category C: The would be nice to do list or as I call it the the get ahead list! The things that you don't NEED to do right now, but if you do them consistently you'll get ahead in life. For me, prospecting is on there. Running search engine optimization campaigns, designing websites and making click funnels is easy. The hard part is finding people who need more customers, higher converting websites and a strong online presence. Doing your "C" to do's is where you get ahead. It's where you 10x it. Category D: The Delegate List - things that you can delegate right now. These are things that aren't worth your time. You should outsource these things right now. I outsource my proof reading. I won't be editing this blog what-so-ever! My proofreading gal will come in to change all the than's to then's, and it make it sound better. Category E: Eliminate! Things that suck up your time that you shouldn't really be doing. For me that's constantly checking my SERPs (search engine results positions) or rankings. I've got keep that down to once a week! 3) Positively Condition Yourself
This is a borderline entrepreneurial no-no, but I love it. The mindset of an entrepreneur is always "on to the next one" after getting a little win. I work 6am - 10:30pm almost everyday with an hour exception in which I schedule out some time with my daughter.
Allowing myself to receive some positive reinforcement would be nice. Often I treat myself to a song in the car after a long day working, but switch to my audio books halfway through my commute home out of guilt. What is Lil Wayne's latest rendition of cash, hoes and drugs going to do for me in the long run? I'm going implement this positive reinforcement by treating myself to song or 5 minutes of "nerding out" on clickfunnels after getting being productive for 45 minutes. Rinse and repeat! Let the Productivity Rocket Launch!
