3 Ways to Market yourself as a TMJ Specialist

Becoming a TMJ Expert is hard enough.  Realizing that new patients won't be knocking down doors to get into your dental clinic is harder.  We work with many TMJ Treatment Specialists to attract new patients and here's 3 ways to market yourself as a TMJ Specialist.

1) Get a DBA

Getting a "Do Business As" from your city is the first step to clearly marking yourself as a specialist.  

To your right is a picture of the search results when I googled "TMJ Specialist NYC".  

Who would you pick out of that line up?

Statistics say that upwards or 50% of people will pick the first listing because it's the first listing regardless of their star rating.

However the point that I'm trying to make is that Michael Gelb has positioned himself as a TMJ Specialist whereas Dr Tananbaum has better reviews, but we're not 100% he's actually an expert in TMJ Treatment.  

In the second picture I've googled "TMJ Specialist San Diego" and the first page real estate is completely taken up by the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of San Diego.

The TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of San Diego... now that's an authoritative statement.  You can easily do that with a simple "Doing Business As" from your city hall.  

2) Provide Education Materials on your Website

A ton of research goes into answering questions such as:

• Why is my jaw hurting?
• Why is my jaw clicking when I eat?
• What does TMJ stand for in medical terms?

Answering these questions and more on your website is an excellent way to further position yourself as an expert in TMJ.  Having a plethora of content on your website will also help your search results ranking.

SEO Specialists always say that "Content is King" because it helps with Search Engine Optimization.  This statement is absolutely true in the case of having a strong TMJ Treatment Website because of the long sales cycle.  People often suffer from pain in their temporomandibular joint for years before finally making the decision to call a TMJ Dental Specialist.  

You'll need to have a TON of information for your potential patients consume on your website.  

3) Display Before & After Pictures

Before and Afters are the key to success.  These pictures help to paint the picture of what your patients will look like when their done with the treatment.  TMJ is a large investment so you'll need to provide excellent proof of past success.  Depending on what form of continuing education you receive there may be the option to use pictures of patients who've had your treatment from other specialists.

Imagery is another big key to your website, but if you can get a video testimonial from one of your clients that far more valuable than any picture.
